The Perth Massive was last night and I’m just creating a quick post to let people discuss the event in the comments. I’ll be posting a wrap-up (detailing the events of the night for those that couldn’t make it) later on.

I took a camera, but (as seem to always be the case) I didn’t get much of a chance to take photos during the event! If you did take some photos please let us know by using the contact form. Anyhow, here are a few photos of the organisers and helpers setting up before the event.
Jason calmly organised the nametags, flyers, and raffle tickets:
Greg was either upset that something went horribly wrong, or happy that something went perfectly right… or just striking a “stressed” pose for the camera (you decide):

great night. free beer rules.
I love the “Perth Massive ->” signs pointing to each other at the entrance.
Confusing signage is great when weeding out the bogans looking for some free liquid joy and tasty quiche treats.
Besides the no microphone so missing 2/3 of the speeches (which is a hiccup that even the best planning can’t avoid if a mic simply goes missing, besides perhaps always keeping a backup etc.) I thought it was a good night! A lot of the real value in my opinion was after the bar tab had run out and the speeches were done, when people were just wandering around chatting.
Felt sorry for that one chick behind the bar, serving free beer on her lonesome to 300 or so people, but that is the venues fault! They woulda got a lot more beer sold if it weren’t for that!
Hmmm, free drinks are popular… no real surprises there!
I know that last year’s event was a combined screening and socialising. Did people really miss the screening component this year? Should we be putting time, effort, and money into a screening as well… or just stick with the free drinks (making sure that we have enough people behind the bar next time!)?
That photo of Greg makes the whole night worth it
I thought the night was a huge success. Congratulations and thanks to the hard working organisers.
I didn’t make last years event because I was AEAF in Sydney, but it’s great to be in a nice central location that’s easy for everyone to get to and great to see so many people.
For Linz - if you missed 2/3rds of my speech, I said,
